WHY SICILY?
In Sicily, almost three thousand years of Mediterranean history are still visible in everyday life.
A CROSSROADS OF CIVILIZATIONS
Greeks and Romans. Arabs and Normans. Spanish rule and modern Italy.
Temples became churches, cities were rebuilt over earlier cities, and every period left something behind — in architecture, language, food and the way people live.

I have lived in Sicily for many years, and together with my family restored Villa Santa Margherita — our historic estate dating from 1815.
I work with our St. Margherita DOP BIO Extra Virgin Olive Oil and trained as a sommelier to understand the wines of Sicily more deeply.
Hidden Sicily began very simply. First, friends came to stay with us. Then friends of friends. We started taking them to the wineries, restaurants, towns and people we ourselves returned to.
That is still how I create each journey today. I personally choose the places and coordinate the guides, chefs, winemakers and artisans who become part of the week.
I welcome the group at Santa Margherita and

SANTA MARGHERITA 1815 & CHIARAMONTE GULFIArrive in Sicily and transfer to Villa Santa Margherita. Settle into our historic 1815 estate, surrounded by olive groves, gardens and centuries-old trees.
Taste our own St. Margherita DOP BIO Extra Virgin Olive Oil with Sicilian bread and local wine.
Towards evening, discover ancient Chiaramonte Gulfi, followed by a welcome dinner at a local restaurant. - DAY 2
MODICA & COOKING WITH CHEF CLAUDIO RUTA
Explore UNESCO-listed Modica with a licensed guide and taste Cioccolato di Modica IGP before a light lunch and free time.
Back at Santa Margherita, Chef Claudio Ruta joins us for a private hands-on cooking experience using seasonal Sicilian ingredients and our own olive oil.
What we cook together becomes dinner. - DAY 3
ANCIENT SYRACUSE & ORTIGIA
A full day with a licensed guide in Syracuse: the Greek Theatre, the Ear of Dionysius and the Neapolis Archaeological Park.
Continue to Ortigia, where the Cathedral still incorporates columns of the 5th-century BC Temple of Athena.
After lunch and free time in Ortigia, return to Santa Margherita for local pizza and Sicilian wine.
- DAY 4
VITTORIA WINE COUNTRY & CALTAGIRONE CERAMICSAt Tenuta Bastonaca, sommelier Giovanni Carbone introduces Frappato, Nero d’Avola and Cerasuolo di Vittoria DOCG — Sicily’s only DOCG. Winery visit, tasting and lunch at the estate.
Then Caltagirone and Atelier Navanzino. With Antonino Navanzino, paint your own ceramic piece during a three-hour hands-on workshop.
It is fired in the atelier and returned before departure. - DAY 5
RAGUSA & IL DUOMO,
2 MICHELIN STARSDiscover Ragusa with a licensed guide, walking from Ragusa Superiore to Ragusa Ibla and tracing the city’s rebirth after the earthquake of 1693.
Then sit down for lunch at Ciccio Sultano’s Il Duomo, awarded 2 Michelin Stars.
The afternoon is deliberately free: gardens, coffee, gelato, small shops or simply another walk through Ragusa Ibla. - DAY 6
VILLA SLOW DAY & SICILIAN KITCHEN
No early departure today.
Enjoy breakfast, the gardens, olive groves, countryside walks and the panoramic pool in season. A light lunch is included.
Later comes our second hands-on cooking experience — deliberately different from Day 2, with a more regional, domestic Sicilian kitchen based on local family recipes.
What we prepare together becomes our farewell dinner. - DAY 7
TWO PIECES OF SICILY & DEPARTURE
One final breakfast at Santa Margherita.
Before leaving, every guest takes home two personal pieces of the journey:
your hand-painted and fired Caltagirone ceramic
and
